I take a great pride to welcome all the participants to the International Webinar in Zoology: Mosquito Management Strategies.
In a significant demonstration of harmony, cooperation and collaboration that the Prof. Ramkrishna More College Akurdi Pune has hosted a remote international webinar on "Controlling Mosquitoes to Protect Public Health" on Monday 11th May, 6.00 pm India Time(8.30 am Florida time).During pandemic spread of the novel SARS-CoV-2 virus, where most academic fraternity has to be at home and fight the COVID 19, a distinguished Scientist from University of Florida and the learned participants and research students of Life Sciences will gather via video conference to discuss one of the most pressing global threats of epidemic and public health importance associated with the tiny mosquitoes.
I am aware of the vision of the students which is about the future career and the dreams which you are cherishing in your minds. Let me assure you that we help you to nurture them.

Biographical Sketch :-
Dr. Philip G. Koehler is the Margie and Dempsey Sapp Endowed Professor of Structural Pest Control and also the Florida Pest Management Association's Endowed Professor of Urban Entomology at the University of Florida. He is a Fellow in the National Academy of Inventors, an honorary member of the Florida Pest Management Association and an honorary member of the Certified Pest Control Operators of Florida. His honors include the National Pest Management Association's Leadership Award, the University of Florida's Distinguished Faculty Award, University of Florida's Academy of Teaching Excellence, University of Florida Professorial Excellence Award, 2 USDA Distinguished Service Awards, and the Florida Pest Management Association's Outstanding Service Award and their 2012 Pioneer award and 2013 President's award. He was inducted into the Pest Management Professional Hall of Fame in 2015 and received the PCT Leadership award in 1996. He has obtained 28 patents on insect control and written more than 200 peer reviewed scientific papers. He is well known for his research in medical and urban entomology, including research on mosquitoes.
Research & Publication
- Develop and investigate new technologies for management of cockroaches and fleas.
- Primary emphasis is on reduction of pesticide usage in urban environments through development of bait, IGR and biological controls.
- Study biological factors of these pests that affect growth and development.
